4th Annual Northwest Percussion Project

Pullman High School in Pullman, WA.

WHO ARE THE CLINICIANS?
  • Daniel Bukvich - Professor of Percussion, University of Idaho
  • Quentin DeWitt - Percussion Educator, Artist and Clinician
  • Kristen McMullin - Graduate Assistant, University of Idaho
  • More clinicians are being added all the time, so check back often!
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE AND WHY WOULD THEY WANT TO?

Any student in 5th grade or older, music teachers, parents or anyone else interested in percussion are all welcome to come and take part in this fantastic opportunity.

If you are just starting in percussion and want to get a lead on your classmates or you are a more experienced player looking to pick up a few tips, then this event is for you! There is nowhere else where you can get this quality of completely hands-on percussion experience in a one-day event.

No prior percussion experience needed!

WHAT WORKSHOPS ARE OFFERED?

Students are given expert guidance and materials that are appropriate to their level (beginning, intermediate or advanced) in each of these essential percussion areas.

  • Stick Technique (Rudiments, Rolls & More)
  • Mallet Keyboard Percussion (Marimba, Vibes & Xylo)
  • Hand Percussion Jam (Congas, Bongos, Shakers, Etc.)
  • Concert Band Percussion
  • Timpani
  • Rhythm Skills
  • Drumset Styles
  • Jazz Vibes
  • Drumline Marching Percussion
  • Drum Tuning, Maintenance and Set-up
  • High School Percussion Ensemble
  • Middle School Percussion Ensemble
  • Elementary Percussion Ensemble

WHAT IS THE COST AND WHAT IS INCLUDED?

The registration fee is $50 (if postmarked on or before February 23, 2009). On-site registration (after 2/23/09) is available for $60.

The registration fee includes an NWPP t-shirt, NWPP drumsticks, NWPP workbook, lunch, access to all workshop sessions and entry in our door prize raffles!

T-shirts, sticks and workbooks are subject to availability for on-site registrants. It is recommended that on-site registrants bring their own sticks in case there is a shortage.

ARE THERE SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE?

There are need-based scholarships available for participants. Contact us to receive more information about scholarships.

HOW DO I REGISTER? You can download a registration form or you can come the day of the event and register at the door.
CAN TEACHERS GET CLOCK HOURS FOR ATTENDING?

YES! The Northwest Percussion Project is now an associate member of WMEA and we are now able to offer clock hours for Washington music teachers.
